An official Quibi app has just launched on some Fire TV devices, but they’ve excluded most Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks from being able to install the app. If you’d like to sideload the app on any of these unsupported Fire TV models, just use my Downloader app and enter
This is getting a bit ridiculous from Amazon. Third app not available. Peacock, HBO Max, now this.
I have to say I’m enjoying my Chromecast with Google TV. It replaced my fire tv stick 4k. And soon it’ll replace my fire TV cube 2nd gen.
I realize that Quibi being cancelled is old news, but your point is still valid. Amazon is ridiculous with limiting so many apps. At least my little Roku allows me to watch most of those apps. Not wise on Amazon. When it’s time to replace my Fredrick, it won’t be with another Amazon product.
*Firestick
not working on my firestick – getting a ‘parse error’. Getting message ‘There was a problem parsing the package’ during the install step after download.
I have a FireTV Stick 4k and it will not install from Downloader. It gives me ” There was a problem parsing the package.” I have sideloaded several apps; it just appears that this one will not run on the FireTV Stick 4k.
LOL. And today Quibi went out of business. That was fast.
Yeah, just saw that. That explains why they didn’t bother releasing the app for more Fire TV models. I’ll leave this post up, but, needless to say, I’m not going to spend any time trying to figure out ways of getting the app to work on incompatible Fire TVs.
That was fast, was going to post the same. Also welcome back Elias.
I was just about to mention it, holy crap is that a flameout. Consensus is it was designed for media consumption on phones and the pandemic knocked out people’s normal commutes and such so that went away.
But then I think of TikTok’s explosion this year and that explanation makes little sense to me.
Btw, a guide to getting Steam streaming working on the FireTV might be nice. I’ve made it work myself and it was a nifty way to play PC games from my couch.
I second the request for a Steam on Fire TV review; I didn’t know that was possible until I saw David’s post.
Can probably get similar content for free on Youtube.
