Several people are reporting issues with the HBO Go app not able to play videos. It appears updating the app resolves those issues. Since it’s not the easiest thing to figure out how to update an app on the Fire TV, I wrote a quick guide to walk you through the steps.

I have a fire tv stick so I have to sideload HBO Go. Is there any way to get an .apk for the updated version?
Before you get rid of the side loaded one, go to hbogo.com/activate and make sure the provider you’re using is set up with HBOGO on the FTV. It’ll save you a minor headache if it’s not there – Comcast and Charter are not available as of yet, though they work just fine with a side loaded apk. Erg.
