Amazon customers who qualify will receive $5 for free when they reload their Amazon gift card balance with $100 or more. To see if you qualify, simply click this link. If you do not qualify, the page will say “Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer” near the top. If you do qualify, simply reload your balance with at least $100 and you’ll see a $5 promotional credit automatically applied to your next Amazon purchase. A purchase must be made by May 15, 2016, otherwise you’ll lose the $5 credit. If you shop on Amazon as much as I do, this is essentially free money in exchange for simply pre-paying for a future purchase you’re going to make anyway.

Is it known what the qualification for these offers is? I am never eligible for this type of offer (buy x gift cards, get extra $ free). Just curious. I’m a long-time Prime user, so maybe they’re not worried about enticing me to spend more money?

Unfortunately, Amazon never provides any details about who qualifies and why. It’s probably based on some algorithm that incorporates many factors like shopping history, past promo participation, and more.
I’m usually not eligible either, but for some reason I am on this one.
