Shazam, the song identification app, has teamed up with Amazon and is offering a free $1.29 MP3 credit just for trying their free app. While not immediately relevant to the Fire TV, it’s always nice to have a little free MP3 credit sitting around for future Amazon coin freebies that require the purchase of an MP3.
To get the free MP3 credit you’ll need an Android smartphone or tablet with Shazam installed. Both the Google Play version and the free Amazon Appstore version will work. Once the app is installed, simply launch the app and use it to identify a song that’s playing by pressing the big Shazam button. After the song is identified you’ll be taken to a screen with a button stating “$1.29 Credit”. Tap the button, login to your Amazon account, and get your free MP3 credit.

5/28 @ 6:03am: It looks like the Amazon Appstore version of Shazam is no longer showing the promotion. At this time, you can still get the free MP3 great by using the Shazam app from the Google Play Store.

Went to the app store and downloaded this free on my Samgsung and followed the steps above and installed, pressed the blue button, but first they ask if you want to use Facebook or Google with this. Then the blue button comes on. I pressed that and when it was done it went to a “tag” like an advertisement! No where was there the above a screen page for the $1.29 credit.
Does this not work with an Samsung Android phone. Or was it just a short offer and its over? Or did I do something wrong (but followed your steps and it didn’t show no screen for the credit)
It looks like Shazam from the Amazon Appstore is no longer displaying this promotion. You will need to use Shazam from the Google Play store. Also, you can skip the signup process. Signup is not required to use the app.

I dont get shazam though: download shazam free from play store (not amazon appstore) to get the credit on amazon mp3 store
The purpose of the promotion is to get people into their Amazon digital store. Those who are already active users of their digital services and have obtained Shazam via their store do not need a promotion to get them into the store they probably use already.
