FLIRC Universal IR Receiver for Fire TV on sale for $14.99 — Lowest Price Ever

The FLIRC Universal IR Receiver for the Amazon Fire TV is on sale for $14.99 at Tanga with free shipping. This matches the lowest price I’ve seen for the newer 2nd Gen version of the FLIRC. This device lets you control Fire TVs and Fire TV Sticks with any standard IR remote. You plug it into a PC and teach it what you would like any of your remote buttons to do. Then, when you plug it into the Fire TV, it performs the actions (e.g., up, down, play, pause, menu, etc..) when it detects the corresponding IR signals. FLIRC works with the 1st and 2nd Gen Fire TV without anything extra, but you may want to use a USB extension cable to position it in a good spot. FLIRC also works with the 3rd Gen Fire TV and 2nd Gen Fire TV Stick, but you will need to use an OTG cable. Be sure to check all the other Black Friday deals for other remote control options on sale.

IR, line of sight. You got to be joking!

Yeah, I’ve never understood why anyone would consider this when it’s less convenient than the Fire TV remote.

And since you need it to point towards you, you’ll be staring at the back panel of your Fire TV. The power and HDMI cables are going to be looking very attractive in your entertainment center…

You use it because you an IR remote system. Also you don’t point your Fire TV backwards, you either use an IR Blaster or a tiny USB hub.
