First full trailer released for Amazon’s highly anticipated ‘Lord of the Rings’ TV series

Amazon has released the first full trailer for its upcoming original series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, based on the fantasy novels by J. R. R. Tolkien. This two-and-a-half-minute trailer is more substantial than the first 60-second “teaser” trailer released earlier this year. The series takes place thousands of years before the events in Peter Jackson’s six feature films. This trailer provides a first look at some of the characters in the series. The series is set to debut later this year on September 2.

I’ve always loved those small, niche shows that Amazon used to more often produce ; shows such as “Red Oaks”, “One Mississippi”, “Mozart In The Jungle”, “Good Girls Revolt”, and the amazing “Transparent”. The more recent “Modern Love” is excellent. I hope Amazon doesn’t forget that there are still audiences for these types of series.

The trailer is nice, I hope they under promise and over deliver. A lot of people will have trouble separating the differences between the major cinematic versions and a series.

Has anyone heard if the release will have any breaks like Netflix did with Stranger Things, or just 8 weeks total? We’re going to wait for the last show of the season before watching and hope it’s not going to be too long for that end of the season.

I can’t believe this contributed to the price increase of Prime membership.

$465 million for this?! Can I at least get $10 back if I don’t watch the series?

Next up is NFL TNF only on Prime this year. Yikes! Those primetime match-ups better be good.

I mean I don’t care about more LotR content, the first trilogy was good enough for me. However I don’t see how someone could see this as not quite good looking.

That said, Prime expires for me on August 9th, first time in more than a decade I will have let the subscription slip.
