Fire TV’s new Alexa Remote finally makes its way over to the UK

It looks like Amazon is finally bringing the new Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote to the UK. The remote is listed as out of stock, but there is now a listing for it on Amazon’s UK site, as well as a new listing for the 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick bundled with the new remote. Amazon introduced the new remote 2 months ago in numerous regions but did not include the UK at the time. While you can’t buy it in the UK just yet, it looks like it’s only a matter of time.

The most distinctive change by this new remote from the old one is the addition of app shortcut buttons. The apps assigned to the bottom two buttons various from region to region, but it looks like the UK is getting the most common set of buttons, which are for Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Music.

The other two changes brought on by the new remote is the addition of a channel guide button, which has a TV icon on it. This button opens the Fire TV’s built-in grid program guide which lists live channels available from supported apps and services. The last change is the blue Alexa voice button, which replaced the old black button with a microphone icon. All other aspects of the remote remain the same as the older version it replaces.

Thanks to Dave G. for spotting this new remote on the UK site and letting me know!
