Fire TV Software Update version Coming Soon

Amazon has updated the Fire TV’s source code page with a new software update, version An update to this page has lately been the first indication that a software update will begin rolling out to devices soon. The past few updates started arriving on devices 2 to 3 days after the update appeared on the source code page. With any luck, this update will bring Fire TV Stick features, like Prime Music and Remote App support, to the Fire TV. As always, I’ll have a full overview of what the update brings once it arrives.

Hopefully the pre-rooted version proves to be more stable on this one.

  2. Gopichand Pai says:

I hope this build fixes the Netflix crash I am seeing on my Fire TV.

  3. Ross says:

Fingers crossed this may enable the usb port for data

  4. Tom says:

Any ideas if this version will be able to bring those of us cast into the cold back into the warmth of a rootable version?

    • AFTVnews says:

It’s extremely unlikely that an update would add rootability. What you and everyone else needs is a new exploit to be discovered that can be used to root. There’s no way to know when that will happen. With every new update, there’s the potential for more exploits to be patched. That’s why it’s recommended that you not update if you want to root in the future and don’t find anything appealing in the features brought by the update.

      • Tom says:

Thanks for the response! I await the day…

“What you and everyone else needs is a new exploit to be discovered that can be used to root” why dont you with your influence try to get people to work on it,instead of mirroring every bit of news. Most of us have no idea or knowledge of linux, android. We are just end users, nobody on xda is working on it

        • Y314K says:

LOL.. Really.. You want to go into the Android exploit business… LOL

The exploit will not come from a AFTV… But it will come from a exploit found in Android itself. Those are mostly discover thru phone ASOP code not directly from AFTV. If the AFTV FW is on the same as the exploit found then it will work on the AFTV. That is how TowelRoot 3 worked on the AFTV. It was not created for the AFTV it just worked on it..

Your begging up the wrong tree asking for to get root… Even on XDA… The only thing that they are working on at the AFTV side of things is on a hardware option to root with no success yet.
