Amazon has the Fire TV Recast on sale for $129.99 for Prime Day. That is for the 2-tuner model with 500GB of storage. The 1TB model with 4-tuners is also on sale for $179.99. Both of these sales are $100 off the DVR’s regular price. These prices match the lowest price that either Recast has ever been in the past. The Fire TV Recast will record over-the-air channels from an attached HD antenna and stream it to all of your Fire TV devices, Echo Shows, and mobile phone. Its channels integrate nicely with many streaming channels in the Fire TV’s built-in channel guide.
So this will only record what’s on your regular TV not what you watch an apps?
That’s right. This can only record your local broadcast channels.
Still only one per Amazon account? I love mine and would probably get a second at this price for the additional storage and tuners if my account would support it!!
Yup, the only way to expand your setup is to add external storage to the one Recast associated with your Amazon ccount. I’m pretty sure that will never change.
Guess it’s their loss then!! So you have any suggestions for expanding the storage? I have the 1Tb version.
Just plug in any external drive into the USB port on the back of the Recast and then go to Settings > Live TV > Sync Sources > Fire TV Recast > Add External Storage. The Recast will wipe and format the drive and you’re good to go.
