Fire TV gains an NCAA March Madness Hub and interactive bracket game

Amazon has added a March Madness Hub to Fire TV devices for the 2023 NCAA basketball tournament. The hub contains links to various apps where the games can be streamed, a row of basketball movies to watch while you wait for the tournament to start, and an interactive game where you can fill in your predictions for the final tournament bracket.

To get to the March Madness hub you can open the Alexa Shortcut Panel by pressing (and not holding) the Alexa microphone button on your Fire TV remote. You should find a “March Madness” tile as the first item.

There’s not too much to the hub right now but it should be populated with news and highlight clips once the tournament gets started. Before March 16 you can select the “Fill Your Bracket” icon in the hub to open the interactive tournament bracket. This is powered by Amazon’s Alexa Interactive Games app which is available on most, but not all, Fire TV models. You can also get to the bracket directly by saying “Alexa, fill my bracket” into your remote mic.

After filling out your bracket predictions, you can share your bracket with friends using the QR code presented. You’ll earn points in the game for picking the right teams. The bracket will let you compare your selections and points with other participants as the tournament is underway. If you want, you can tweet your bracket to the Fire TV Twitter account for a chance to win an Echo Show.
