Fire TV 3 (pendant) is on clearance for $20.98 in Target stores

For those of you willing to venture out into the real world, Target stores have placed the Amazon Fire TV 3 (pendant) on clearance for $20.98. This is the lowest price that the 3rd-gen Fire TV has ever been and will likely be among the last deals you’ll see for this model, since it has been discontinued and replaced by the Fire TV Stick 4K in Amazon’s lineup. The Fire TV Stick 4K is a much better device and it’s worth spending the extra $14 over this clearance deal to get the Fire TV Stick 4K for $34.99 during Black Friday, however, compared to the regular 1080p Fire TV Stick, which will be $24.99 during Black Friday, this Fire TV 3 at $21 is a much better buy. You can try checking Target’s website for stock information in your area, but it’s not very accurate since it said my local Target didn’t have any but they actually did have a pair on the shelf. You might have better luck calling your local Target and asking them to check the stock of item number 00806023, instead of relying on the website stock information.

I have this model, the pendent on a high end Samsung 65″ 4K tv and it seems to work great. I can’t see a reason to replace it. I don’t think most would unless it fails. Keep up the hard work, I do read all your articles. I will go back and read your review of the Fire TV Stick 4K.

The pendent isn’t bad at all. It was a steal at $35 when I got mine, and at $20, that’s just plain crazy.

That’s a crazy drop. I am currently on 2nd gen sticks and planning to upgrade to 4k sticks on BF but if I needed something today I’d pick those up.

What a great present no matter the occasion! I’m hoping to grab a few for my “JUST INCASE” box!

I want to know how to program the Fire TV 3?

Are you meaning adding content like apps or kodi or shoebox? If so go to YouTube plenty of step by step on screen instructions there

  6. BobR says:

If you want the new remote, that’s $30 so you would be better off paying $5 more on BF for the 4k stick. Same goes if you are looking at the 2nd gen stick.
Overall, this year’s BF prices are great, but a little concerning about whether anyone will continue to make a slightly higher end box and sell them at slightly higher prices. Even the Roku Ultra is $50 (50% off). I don’t recall such discounts in prior years unless they were older products. Perhaps the business model is evolving to more advertising to defray the cost, which is also concerning.

i would call the target store but instead go there if it’s not too far away. if you call, it is likely the one or two left will disappear before you get there. happens all the time with walmart so less likely with target but still….if an employee grabs the last one for $20 and he wants it….rule #1: never call.

None at the Brentwood, TN Target… Just empty shelves where it used to be.

Are you sure this is a Nationwide sale? I’m wondering if this was just at your particular store, since nothing is out by Target saying it’s happening.

  12. Y2Bogus says:

This never stood a chance. The stick was so great. Looking forward to snagging one or two of the 4k on Black Friday

Central minnesota, brickseek showed limited stock at 2 nearby Targets. The problem was, they were on clearance, but they were $34.99 each. I actually talked to the electronics department and the manager, and they price matched THIS ARTICLE! Thanks for the savings AFTV news!!!

i am undecided which model to choose
i heard the latest FW (5.2.6.6) breaks TV power on through CEC on some devices not sure if it does on this device or if this device will work with the wyze cam alexa skill with the out of the box firmware
because my 2nd gen fire stick needs the update that breaks CEC TV power on to use the wyze cam skill , i assume the new 4k stil will also need the new update to use the wyze cam skill but i am not sure
also what about blocking updates on this device and the 4k stick can we blcok on oth device with no root right?
i may just go for these

  18. Jenny says:

Where is your local target? I’ve contacted three stores and they said that they didn’t have it on clearance.

  19. Larry Little says:

This 3rd Generation Fire TV was a disaster from day one.

I’m not even sure how this device advanced to the marketing stage.

The 3rd gen FTV was hardly ever offered at full price… and for good reason: it was a failure on every level.

I’m glad to see that Amazon has finally acknowledged this colossal mistake and is moving on.

  20. Noel says:

Just checked mine and it’s 35 bucks on clearance

  21. SomeOne says:

My biggest gripe is its OTG compatibility. I much prefer a stick to this device. Never used the latest stick though. Hopefully it has FULL OTG compatibility too!

  22. sidewinder says:

fire stick 4k has 1.5gb ram while the pendant has 2gb ram…when running kodi (latest v18 leia rc) it shows around 500-600mb free ram without playing any video. this maybe a problem on the new stick especially when using advancedsettings.xml to use larger cache.

  23. Dave says:

This is yet another example of “just because I saw it on the internet doesn’t mean it is true.” Unless and until there is an official announcement from Target, then you should take this information with a grain of salt.

    • clocks says:

What makes you think it is not true? Do you think the screenshot is faked? Target/Walmart put older products on clearance all the time.
