Fire OS 5 Developer Preview devices being updated to final public version

One big unanswered question, when the final version of Fire OS 5 began arriving on the 1st-gen Fire TV and older Fire TV Sticks with non-voice remotes, was if those who signed up and installed the Fire OS 5 Developer Preview were also going to receive the 5.0.5 software update. According to cgutman on reddit, the answer to that question is yes. His 1st-gen Fire TV and Fire TV Stick running developer preview version 5.0.3 have received the public 5.0.5 software update. So those of you still on the developer preview version can rest assured that your devices will eventually update to 5.0.5 without having to first downgrade back to Fire oS 3.

Shouldn’t the guinea pigs have been the first to have been updated? Thanks for nothing! ;)

how do i get kodi to write to an external usb flash drive with the new os 5, or i need root access?

  3. Robert Simandl says:

My 1st-gen FTV with Developer Preview 5.0.3 got updated to 5.0.5 day before yesterday.

Don’t know if that’s the reason I was finally able to get CBS All Access on this unit, or if CBS made the app available to older devices beforehand.
