ESPN+ will be raising its subscription price by $3 next month. Starting August 23rd, the $6.99 per month subscription will increase to $9.99 per month. The service launched four years ago with a price of $4.99 per month. The annual subscription cost will also increase, from $69.99 to $99.99. The price increase affects both existing and future subscribers. Surpsiringly, the bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $13.99 is not incressing in price at this time.
Which version of Hulu is included in the Disney bundle? Basic Hulu with commercials, basic Hulu without commercials, or Hulu with live TV?
For $13.99/month, you get Hulu with ads, but you can choose to pay $19.99/month instead to get Hulu without ads. There’s no bundle for the live TV plan.
There is definitely a bundle for live TV. I have it. It’s $69.99 with ads and 75.99 without ads on the Hulu Library piece.
W/commercials is default, but you can upgrade.
There’s 2 versions of the Bundle. The standard one that they usually advertise is the $13.99 one with ads. But I think it’s $19.99 if you want the Hulu with no ads.
@Elias – sorry, you beat me to it.
I love ESPN+ for all the off-beat stuff like documentaries, SEC Stories series, etc. But, man, it’s a little different for $10 than it was when it was $5 (when I signed up). I’ve been a cord cutter for like 6-8 years, but the prices are started to get too high to have more than a couple of these services at a time. I might have to evaluate my options when it comes to ESPN+, the way I’m already looking at when it comes to Netflix.
I certainly think professional athletes deserve to be well-paid for their talents and work efforts….and many of them are… already.
However, if the major sports leagues and media networks that help fund them think there’s no ceiling on what average folks are willing to pay for their sports viewing entertainment, I think they’re WRONG.
For ESPN+, an almost 50% price increase overnight, going from $6.99 per month to $9.99 per month moving forward? Why???
I don’t subscribe to ESPN+ and never have. But I do often subscribe to some version of NFL Game Pass. And as much as I enjoy watching professional football, if they were to raise the subscription price almost 50% overnight, I’d be saying adios to my football and not looking back.
Enough is enough! I signed on to ESPN+ exclusively for the NHL games. At $7.51 including tax, I decided to keep my subscription during the off season. But with this increase, I’m cancelling and may not re-up in October out of principle.
Upon further review, I’m going to see if I can upgrade my current monthly subscription to an annual one for the current price of $69.99 plus tax.
So I had to cancel my current monthly subscription which runs through July 22. Then on July 23, I will subscribe to the annual plan at $69.99. At least I’ll get the 2022-23 hockey season at the old price.
I’m in the same boat, NHL, and was just going to keep it going during the off-season as well seeing it would be easier than canceling and re-subscribing etc… but with a $3 price hike for crap I don’t watch? Meh…
Though it looks like if you have the Disney+, Hulu & ESPN+ then it isn’t changing? I have the bundle, but I get charged 2 times… once for Disney+ then again for the “bundle” to make up the $13.99 price… hopefully it stays the same price.
I get basic Hulu free with my Spotify subscription. And I have no desire for Disney+. So I’m hoping I can upgrade my ESPN+ to annual at 69.99.
Ive got the bundle. Always had the bundle and can’t imagine paying $10 a month for espn. In fact, I was really surprised it’s been $6.99.
There’s not much there. Sometimes you get lucky and a game you happen to wanna watch is on. But mostly it’s just sports docs that you’ll blow through quickly if you’re into those things.
