EPIX has launched a new stand-alone streaming service called EPIX NOW that does not require a cable subscription. The service includes MGM’s full library of original shows and movies, including content from Paramount and Lionsgate. The service costs $5.99 per month and includes access to all four of EPIX’s live channels and on-demand content. It’s available, starting today, on Android and iOS phones and tablets, as well as the Apple TV. It will be coming to Fire TV and Roku devices soon.
Not a bad monthly price but I couldn’t be any less interested in their original content.
I’ll still check it out when the app launches. Live streams are always interesting to throw on when bored.
(Also it seems like you accidentally pasted part of a different article to the end of this one.)
Isn’t Epix content already included in Prime?
Some of it, yes, but that’s only because Amazon and Epix have a content deal. Once that agreement expires, I bet Epix will not renew it, since they’ll want to use that content for their own new service. Welcome to the new land of walled gardens.
Hulu also
Same thing for HBO, IMO. Amazon has the content, but that deal was made before HBO had their respective streaming service, HBO NOW. Now that EPIX has gone the same route with EPIX NOW, their respective content that is currently on Prime will go away eventually.
