If you want to watch and record over-the-air, cable, or satellite programming through an Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, your main options are buying an HDHomeRun or Tablo device. These are small boxes with TV tuners inside that connect to your network and stream content through dedicated Fire TV apps. However, if you want to use your own hardware, then the new DVBLink Theater app from DVBLogic may be right for you. DVBLogic makes server software that runs on Mac or Windows PCs, as well as numerous NAS brands like Synology, QNAP, Netgear, and Western Digital. You connect a TV tuner card or USB TV tuner to the PC or NAS running their server software, and it handles all TV show recordings and streaming, and makes it all accessible through the free Fire TV app. The server software is a bit pricey at €49 (about $55), but is available to try free for 20 days, to see if it’s right for you. The DVBLink Theater app is free, as are all their other client apps, and is compatible with all Fire TV and Fire TV Stick models.
