Disney has announced that it intends to launch an ad-supported plan for its Disney+ streaming service. The new plan will launch later this year in the U.S. and will expand to international markets in 2023. The plan will exist alongside the current ad-free plan, which costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and, presumably, cost less, but Disney has not said how much it will cost at this time. CNN has, however, just revealed for the first time the cost of its upcoming CNN+ streaming service. CNN+, which is said to provide new programming that is not available on the cable news network, will cost $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year. CNN has said that anyone who signs up within the first 4 weeks of the streaming service’s debut will get 50% off the monthly plan for life, as long as they remain subscribers. The news agency is expected to launch the new service later this month but has not provided a specific launch date yet.
Also ITV just announced they are launching a new streaming service to quote: “Take on Netflix and Disney” The service will be called ITVX and will launch later this year.
It looks very promising with a PAID add-free plan as well as a FREE add-supported plan. 15,000 hours of programming as well as many new original shows (available to both levels). ITV just bought a stake in Britbox so the future is looking bright for streaming.
Hi, hey this sounds great, do you know if it will be launched internationally? Hopefully they also will include titles with Audio Description.
Initial reports of the ITVX service read like this will be a UK-only offering initially. It doesn’t mean it they won’t have aspirations for international expansion down the road.
NOTE: ITV already owns 90% of the BritBox U.K. service. They bought out the 10% that the BBC owned. BritBox International, which is available in the U.S., Canada, Australia and South Africa, will remain a 50/50 joint venture between ITV and BBC.
Why do I feel like they will announce the price at the same time they announce a big price increase for the standard tier?

I’m very interested in the cheaper ad supported plan at Disney but absolutely no interest in anything to do with CNN.
Same here.
