DIRECTV is the latest streaming service to join the list of services compatible with Fire TV’s Live TV Experience. This means customers in the U.S. with the DIRECTV app installed, and a subscription to the service, will now see their DIRECTV channels appear in the Fire TV’s built-in program guide. Channels will also appear in the Live tab.
If I’m not mistaken, it has been well over a year since a new streaming service has been integrated with the Live TV Experience on Fire TV devices. The last services to add compatibility were Fox, ESPN, and a few others. This integration allows DIRECTV channels to be listed alongside any combination of channels and various services in the Fire TV’s channel guide. Selecting a channel from the guide jumps you right into the live stream of that channel in the DIRECTV app.
This added integration also means you can now say “Alexa, tune to [Channel Name] in DIRECTV” to jump straight to a channel from anywhere while using a Fire TV. DIRECTV programming will also now appear in the Fire TV’s universal search results. If you prefer finding content by scrolling the Fire TV’s main interface, you’ll also see channels listed in various category rows, like News and Sports, in the Live tab and in the On Now row on the home screen.
And in the UK there is nothing apart from one app that costs £6.99 for a few channels.
Definitely more than one in the UK, apps that integrate into the epg include BBC, ITV, TVPlayer, Pluto TV, to name a few.
Only Pluto TV and My5 player integrate into the EPG. BBC,C4 and ITVX do not integrate. I find Pluto is trash so would not watch it. I was referring to TV Player in my original post. That costs £6.99 per month and is not great.I tried it and it was really flaky. It also did not integrate when I trialled it.
