CyanogenMod Lollipop ROM for Amazon Fire TV progress

Rbox has been busy chugging away at his CyanogenMod port for the Amazon Fire TV. The last time we heard from him, the ROM was crashing after the boot screen. He’s just chimed in with an update and has made tremendous progress. The ROM is now booting, but an issue with the SystemUI causes it to eventually crash. He was able to get the Android TV Launcher open, but it isn’t fully working, likely due to the lack of required Google Apps. Once he gets the ROM more stable, he says he’ll work on getting the Android TV Launcher functional.

Flippin’ sweet! I can’t wait to test this out. I’ll be getting my Nexus Player in the mail this week, also. I freaking love Android.

This looks interesting, shame I’m unlikely to be able to try it with the UK device not being rootable :(

Theoddbot, pick up a pre-rooted fire tv on ebay!

I’ve bought two from the seller “auction_discount” and this guy does a great job! he installs Kodi, xposed framework, stickmount (for flash drives and hard drives to work on the usb port) and a bunch of other useful apps/tweaks. I normally like to do all of this stuff myself, but the fire tv I ordered from Amazon wasn’t rootable. It looks like the seller ships to many other countries, so you’d most likely be in luck. I highly recommend this seller.

I hope this sort of post isn’t breaking any rules. If it is, please let me know and I will remove it.
