Costco now sells Fire TV Smart TVs for the first time — New TCL Q5 Series Fire TV Released

Fire TV models have been available for purchase outside of Amazon.com from numerous major retailers for many years but the big exceptions have always been Costco and Walmart, which have never sold any Fire TV devices, likely because Amazon is such a big rival in the retail space. While Walmart still doesn’t sell Fire TVs, apart from the ones listed by 3rd-party sellers on its open marketplace, Costco has changed its tune and now sells a Fire TV Smart TV for the first time. The brand-new TCL Q5 Series QLED Fire TV Smart TV has just debuted at Costco where it appears to be exclusively sold.

TCL introduced its first Fire TV models in the US with the debut of the 55, 65, and 75-inch TCL Q6 Series QLED Fire TVs earlier this year. A very similar 43-inch TCL Q5 Series QLED Fire TV is now available at Costco. While the product page doesn’t explicitly mention the TV as being a Q5 Series model, the “Q5” in the 43Q570F model number indicates the series, since the Q6 Series models have “Q6” in their model numbers. The spec sheet linked on Costco’s product page indicates there will also be a 75-inch version with model number 75Q570, but that’s not available yet.

This new TCL Q5 Series Fire TV uses a 4K Quantum Dot QLED panel with a 60Hz native panel refresh rate. The backlight uses direct-lit LEDs and it supports all the high dynamic range formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. There are three HDMI ports, of which one is an eARC port for return audio. The TV has Ethernet, WiFi 5, Bluetooth, both optical and 3.5mm audio out, as well as an AV IN port for a composite video adapter capable. The one listed difference between this new Q5 Series TV, compared to the Q6, is that the Q5 has one USB port while the Q6 has two.

Given Costco’s very lenient no-questions-asked 90-day return policy on TVs and aggressive pricing, it’s a popular retailer for TV purchases. Costco currently has the 43-inch TCL Q5 Series QLED 4K Fire TV listed for $229.99. That makes it a much better buy than the 43-inch TCL S4 Series 4K Fire TV which is currently being sold for $249.99 and is inferior in many ways.

I wish I had link for price and everything

It will be interesting to see how this works for them. With their return policy selling these might not be worth the trouble.

As far as the Fire TV that’s embedded in this TV, what do it’s benchmarks compare to?

Can I use it with Chromecast 4k?

TCl 43″ QLED Q570F currently $229.99 at Costco will go on sale November 13-27. I am going to give it a try for $189.99.

I bought one about 5 months ago after.crashing my LG word off the stand. I bought.it because it would cost so much more to get another lg. I like the.tfl better than.the lg.tcl.picture is comparable.to lg and.the interface and remote is so much.better.in my opinion. The lg magic remote ducked and lg.require passwords for so many things and.would.reject.trying.to set up passwords
