* Generations: Amazon aligns the tablet’s generation with the year it was built, so there is no 11th and 9th generation Fire HD 8 tablet because a new Fire HD 8 was not released in 2021 and 2019.
** Charge Times: The listed charge times are for when the included power adapter is used. Faster charge times may be achieved when using a more powerful power adapter. For example, the 2022 Fire HD 8 comes with a 5W power adapter and the 2022 Fire HD 8 Plus comes with a 9W power adapter, which is the reason for the charge time difference. This is why the charge time is 5 hours and 3 hours, respectively. The 2022 Fire HD 8 can be charged in 3 hours, instead of 5, if a 9W power adapter (not included) is used.

I can’t find any information on that mediatek processor is it made specifically for these tablets? Is it using performance cores or just a53 cores?
6 x ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores @ 2 GHz.
By comparison, the 2020 model had 4 x Cortex-A53 cores @ 2 GHz.

Any chance that the 2022 model comes with Google Play Store pre-installed?
I think the odds of that happening are about the same as the number of “R”s in “fat chance.” Amazon still loves its little ecosystem…
The Lenovo M8 is probably the closest equivalent. Its body is slightly smaller and lighter than the Fire tablet, but has a little less horsepower (quad core vs hex core). And it’s as close to stock Android as you’ll find from a mainstream manufacturer.
I have both a 2020 M8 FHD and a 2020 Fire 8 Plus. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
did mediatek is better than other processors?
Amazon drops the ball yet again, minimal improvements once again.
I am not buying another Amazon tablet until they put it a side connector for folio keyboards.
They would make so much money selling the magnetic keyboards alone it’s a no brainer really.
It would cost practically nothing to put in a side connector like ipads have and they could make a fortune selling official fire folio keyboards
and even docks, speaker docks for show mode that turn the tablet into an echo show when docked.
Just a note on the 2018 original model, 802.11n is WiFi 4, not 5.

i dint see big different 2022 Fire HD 8 Plus and the previouse one HD 8
WOW between 2018 to 2022 Same resolution most spec’s barely moved up. And the CAMERA is non-existent !!! Talk about smelly milk from this dead COW !! Amazon is still in the stone age ! Since everyone has smart phones with 500 times better features.
