Comedy Central, BET, MTV, and more are coming to Sling TV

Sling TV and Viacom hashed out terms of a multi-year contract that will see Comedy Central, BET, MTV, Spike, Nick Jr, and “many others” added to Sling TVs growing lineup. There’s no word on specific bundles or price, but it appears the new split between single and multi-stream base packages, introduced last week, is here to stay. Viacom channels, unlike Disney, ESPN, and FOX channels, will be available on both packages.

None of the Viacom channels interest me much. I’d rather keep the price lower than add junk channels.

well they will probably just add the channels into addons to keep the base package down.

From Wikipedia, here’s a list of Viacom Television Network properties:

I’ve been using Sling for a while now (almost a year?) with the addon to get TCM and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I will probably be trying Playstation Vue in the near future and trying to decide between the two.

I don’t have much interest in the Viacom channels so if they were to increase the price by adding them to the basic list it may sway me to go to Vue. Obviously, other people may have different opinions.

i have both playstation vue and sling (the only reason i have sling is A&E)..playstation vue is wayy better. although i live in an area where it doesn’t offer local channels.

I can’t deal with Slings “Are you still watching?” message every 2 hours a popup will ask you and you have to click yes or it will stop streaming and goto a black screen. PlayStation Vue is set to never time out, so you put a channel on and come back a week later and it will still be playing. While I will agree both are one extreme side, I particularly favor not having a popup keep bugging me. So I cancelled Sling ($20mo) and got PlayStation Vue ($30mo). Hopefully both will be smart and allow customers to set a custom timer a user can set and after a user defined idol time it will turn off each day.

No data cap on your internet? Must be nice

Most people don’t use sling / Vue with cellular Internet. There is some crappie isp with data caps, but fortunately I have TDS gigabit fiber with no caps☺. I am sorry for those who have caps

Bundles are still bundles, cord cut or otherwise. I’d hoped for better from Sling.
