Channels is a great app for those wanting one of the best over-the-air DVR experiences across streaming and mobile devices. The app and server software are constantly being improved and the latest beta pre-release update has now added support for Tablo tuners as spotted by Zats Not Funny. Prior to this change, the Channels app only worked with HDHomeRun tuners, but now, those of you with Tablo devices can also give it a try if you’re looking to change things up. While Tablo excels in being an all-in-one solution, to use Channels you will need to run the Channels Server software on a separate device, like a PC or NAS, and pay either $8/month or $80/year for a Channels subscription after its one-month free trial.
It’s still a headless DVR with transcoded video and you’re paying an extra subscription fee with channels dvr software.
So with this, you’d cancel your Tablo subscription, and use Channnels server and apps to control your Tablo hardware.
