Apple content listings suggest 4K and HDR are coming to iTunes and the Apple TV

Apple has begun listing select iTunes movies as 4K and HDR, according to a report by MacRumors. The actual movie files being served are still only in 1080p or 720p, but the 4K and HDR labels suggest Apple’s media library will finally make the jump to Ultra HD content. Rumors of a new Apple TV capable of 4K and HDR coming later this year have been making the rounds, so this premature listing of 4K and HDR content seems to suggest those rumors are true.

As always Apple following up after Google, Amazon , Netflix , Sony , Nvidia and VUDU.
But don’t worry Apple iTunes 4k will be the most awesome, simple and the best in video delivery service.

    Sorry I couldn’t help myself…

I agree. Apple TV was the last to even have 1080p. The same think 720p is good enough.

Anyway I will never get the new ATV unless they make it smaller less ugly and get rid of the horrible breaks easy expensive glass touch remote go back to a physical button remote.

If it does HDR that would actually put Apple ahead of Amazon’s firetv offerings currently

Doesn’t matter if they are late to the party, tvOS made the Apple TV much better. Developers line up to make Apple apps. Wish they did the same for my AFTVs. We’re always behind. Where’s my VUDU!?

I like my apple tv and I’m looking forward to the amazon app. In many ways it’s better than the aftv and shield tv. No advertisements on the home screen, the home screen has folder. What it’s missing is amazon video, plex server, and usb Hard drive support.
