A remote that closely resembles the one currently included with Fire TV devices has just popped up in a new FCC filing. Janko Roettgers, a reporter at Protocol, first spotted the remote’s FCC listing and determined it to be a Fire TV remote. Brazilian blogger Everton Favretto actually spotted the same remote in a filling with the Brazilian regulatory office at the end of last year. It wasn’t until earlier this month that he found the same remote in a listing with Japan’s regulatory office, found here, which included the image seen above.
Existing Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube remote (left) and the Fire TV Stick Lite remote (right).
Both Janko and Everton believe the remote to be destined for a Fire TV Edition television, however, the remote notably does not include channel up and down buttons like all recent Fire TV Edition remotes. The remote in the Japanese filing most closely resembles Amazon’s current 2nd-gen Alexa Voice Remote, which debuted in 2018 alongside the announcment of the Fire TV Stick 4K. The remote pictured in the Japanese filing differs from the existing Fire TV remote primarily by including 4 partner buttons at the bottom, as is found on all Fire TV Edition remotes but have never been included in a Fire TV box/cube/stick remote. Another difference is the addition of a button with a TV icon, which is also found on the Fire TV Stick Lite’s remote and is used to open the live channel guide. The last difference is a blue microphone button in place of the usual black microphone button found on all existing Fire TV and Fire TV Edition remotes.
Neither the U.S. FCC listing or the Japanese listing indicate that this remote is made by Amazon or that this remote is for a Fire TV device. Amazon typically submits all such fillings under a shell company. The company that has submitted the U.S. and Japanese filings for this remote is “Bluff Arches Cay LLC.” However, the Brazilian filing for this remote was made by Amazon and all three filings share the same model number of L5B83G for the remote.
This is the same remote in the new 4k stick new leak
I want that guide button
Hurry up and release the new FTV 4K Stick Amazon! :D.
I already have this remote. It came with me 43″ insignia fire tv a few months ago.
The guide button just launches imbd tv on my tv.
I just want one that works longer than 6 months. I have 3 dead ones.
Tell me we got to get a new remote control in the old ones don’t work if so how can I get one
1) Why in the world would that be the case? That’s a ludacris question.
2) If you were to need a new remote, I’m sure you could find one with a simple google search.
You can buy new one, but they cost as much as a new firestick
So then, buy a new firestick. Problem solved. You’re welcome.
This looks exactly like my fire TV remote that came with my Toshiba smart fire TV.
A TV input button would be a great feature for a new remote, rather than having to resort with having to use another remote for this feature.
I wouldn’t mind the partner buttons if we can program them. Unfortunately I’m pretty certain its preprogrammed to who pays the most.
So let’s see, by the color scheme, Prime is obviously first, Netflix second since they seem to make it a rule that if you want Netflix certification, your device needs a Netflix button. Hulu is the last, but I can’t figure out the third one. HBO Max?
That remote looks like dog doo doo! Get a FORMULER box or NVIDIA SHIELD.
The new remote is now available in Germany:
