Vimu Player, a networked media player, has just gone free for a limited time. This is the first time this app has ever been free. Vimu Player can playback both local and networked files using file sharing protocols like SMB (Windows), UPnP, DLNA, and NFS. The app supports many MKV features, such as multiple audio tracks and internal subtitles.
I tried this app but it couldn’t play any MKV or MP4 on my network.
It doesn’t support 5.1 dolby digital or dts either,in fact I don’t think there is a android media player app that does other than xbmc and video playback xbmc on isn’t very good
In what world is video playback in XBMC not good? I can play almost anything i throw at it and i can do it in FULL HD with DTS or Dolby digital. I have used XBMC is my entire cord cutting program for 2 years with no paid tv and i have never missed a tv show or movie.
I find that the video playback is jerky with xbmc and have tried everything to correct it,in my opinion mx player is a far better and plays video far smoother but the downside with mx player is there is no dts or dolby digital output
I don’t know anything about your setup but I can stream full blu-ray rips on XBMC and SPMC on the AFTV even over wifi. No jerkiness at all. I only archive full DVD and blu-ray rips into MKV format and have not had any playback issues on the AFTV. I use a Synology NAS for storage. Best of luck to you.
+1 Clearly Ian has networking issues.
Hi,I’ve solved the problem,it was a kodi issue with the hardware decoder,I have since installed tvmc and turned off hardware decoding and the problem has all but gone,I think the aftv has problems with xbmc hardware decoding
Does it play from usb drive?
