Amazon Studios original series Transparent has taken home the Golden Globe for best television comedy or musical. This win marks the first major award for a show made by Amazon. Competition was tough with Transparent going up against Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and two shows from HBO, Silicon Valley and Girls.

Jeffrey Tambor, star of Transparent, took home the second award for Amazon with his win of best actor in a TV comedy or musical for his work on the show. During his acceptance speech he called Amazon his “new best friend”.

It was a big night for new media in general. Kevin Spacey took home a Golden Globe for best actor in a TV drama for his work on House of Cards, giving streaming content 3 Golden Globes total — all on a night when the big four broadcast networks didn’t win any.
