The first Amazon-built Fire TV Smart TVs have launched today and Amazon has announced that they will be receiving support for Apple AirPlay 2 casting. The Fire TV Omni Smart TVs, which are the premium models with hands-free Alexa, and the less expensive Fire TV 4-Series Smart TVs will “soon” be able to wirelessly connect to Apple iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers for screen mirroring and for remotely playing content in mobile apps.
Amazon first announced Apple AirPlay and HomeKit support back in July for 2020 Fire TV Smart TVs from Toshiba and Insignia. Those have been the only models to gain support so far, even though 2021 Toshiba models and 2021 Insignia models have since been released, including high-end QLED models that also lack support for AirPlay. The Amazon-built Fire TV Smart TVs will be the second set to receive support for Apple’s casting and mirroring protocol.
Amazon has not said anything about AirPlay support coming to stand-alone Fire TV and Fire TV Stick streaming devices. The lack of AirPlay support on even most new Fire TV Smart TVs seems to indicate that Amazon doesn’t see it as a priority feature. Today’s announced inclusion of AirPlay support on Amazon’s own Smart TVs in the future does add a tiny shimmer of hope that AirPlay will eventually be added to stand-alone Fire TVs.

Well? I am demanding that Amazon release AirPlay 2 and Homekit for Fire TV sticks and cubes… So go ahead and contact your sources within Amazon, Elias, and tell to get Crackin’ Capin on it. No excuse for it not already being released. Roku can put it on their sticks and boxes? Amazon can too!

The app that allows AirPlay on these devices is due to a little apk callled AirPlay.apk could this apk be sideloaded to other fire devices without AirPlay?
Do you have the APK? Please share it, it probably require some extra work in it.
So we still can’t mirror our Amazon Fire Tablets…
