Amazon has made Amazon Rapids, the app with short stories for kids, free for everyone, according to TechCrunch. The app and service, which launched in 2016, formerly required a $2.99 monthly subscription to access its collection of hundreds of stories that are presented in the form of text message conversations. Amazon more recently tied the stories in with their original kids TV shows and also offered them through Alexa, but it doesn’t seem like the service has taken off, so now it’s free. The stories are aimed towards kids ages 5 to 12 and the app comes with educational features, such as a built-in glossary and read-along mode for younger readers.
