Amazon’s Blink announces its first Video Doorbell, Flood Light Mount, and Solar Panel Mount

Amazon-owned Blink, best known for its long-lasting wireless security cameras that can last up to 2 years on a pair of AA batteries, has announced its first video doorbell. The new Blink Video Doorbell is available in white or black for just $49.99. Also announced today are two new mounts for the outdoor variants of its security cameras. The first is a dual floodlight mount for $39.99 and the second is a solar panel mount which includes a camera for $129.99.

The Blink Video Doorbell records 1080p HD video at 30 fps. It has a 135-degree horizontal and an 80-degree vertical field of view. It has infrared night vision and 2-way audio through a built-in microphone and speaker. Much like the company’s wireless cameras, the Blink Video Doorbell can run off of two AA lithium batteries (included) for up to 2 years when coupled with the Blink Sync Module 2, which is recommended. It can also run on wired power when connected to existing 16-24 VAC chime wiring.

By default, video recording is done in the cloud through a subscription that costs $3 per month per camera or $10 per month for unlimited cameras. Alternatively, you can avoid the subscription and record locally to a USB drive if you have a Blink Sync Module.

The Blink Video Doorbell is available to pre-order in black or white colors for $49.99. It will be released on October 21st.

Blink also announced a new Floodlight Mount Accessory for its outdoor cameras. The floodlight ouputs 700 lumens of light and is powered by 4 D Cell batteries. The lights are triggered when the attached camera detects motion. It’s also available to pre-order in black or white for $39.99 and will ship October 21st.

Lastly, Blink announced a Solar Panel Mount for its outdoor cameras. Oddly, it doesn’t seem like you can order only the mount, so it’s only available with an add-on camera for $129.99 or with a 1-camera kit for $139.99. The difference between the two being the included sync module with the kit. The solar mount comes with an 18650 battery that hte panels charge and is used to power the attached camera. It too will be released on October 21st.

Blink and Ring need to.merge or something. Having two competing devices owned by the same company just seems weird.

Love the solar panel mount, Huge step in the right drection for blink, now they just need to improve their overall video quality, espically at night. Hard to imagine the camera quality being sufficient at that price point.
