Amazon holds a big announcement event every year where it reveals a slew of new devices. This year, the event will be held on September 28th at 9AM PT, according to The Verge and the invitation I received. It will be a virtual event, by invite only, where it’s expected that a lot of smart home devices will be announced, such as new Echos and more. This is likely the event where the 3rd-gen Fire TV I uncovered will also be announced. I’ll be covering all the announcements, so be sure to check back next week.
Nice. I use my streaming devices a ton, so always looking for an upgrade.
Excellent news. Hopefully the cube3 has AV1 & direct ethernet connection….
Always keeping us informed. Thank You!
Begging for a revamped Fire TV interface and a Stick with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It would be perfect!
Needs to have 3gb memory and 16gb+ storage, faster CPU and GPU than previous version.
Amazon need to leave way open for running custom menu system, launcher or it won’t sell at all. Not everyone wants to see Amazons cluttered homepage trying to sell you something every time you turn it in.
I’m hoping this is a more powerful cube with Wi-Fi 6. 3g of RAM and 32g of storage even and on board USB and ethernet would be great. I’m really hoping it’s not going to be a light version the second GEN cube.
So does this mean there won’t be an upgrade to the Fire 10 for at least 6 months to a year?
Woot has the gen 2 cube on sale right now for $44.99 Amazon Certified Refurbished.
One of my three ire cubes started acting funny so I gave it to my nephew. He claimed he didn’t have any problems with it, right up until it started burning. When the second started acting funny, I just tossed it. One remains, working well.
The two were replaced by Roku Ultras. So my Fire Recast had to be cast into basement storage. And now Amazon has abandoned it.
I would like to see Amazon make something good, that lasts, and accepts that we are the owners and we can control what bulkware is installed on our own devices. Plus I hope it doesn’t burn.
