Amazon Prime Instant Video to lose most BBC shows starting February 15th

Amazon is not expected to renew the agreement which brought BBC shows like Doctor Who and The Office to Amazon Prime Instant Video. Sources tell The Verge that the issue is exclusivity. Amazon made it clear during their latest earnings call that their focus is Prime membership. Part of that focus includes licensing exclusive content for Prime Instant Video. Since the BBC allows other services like Netflix to carry the same shows, Amazon has chosen not to renew their previous agreement, and instead focus on deals like the ones which put shows like Justified, Hannibal, and 24 exclusively on Prime. Not all BBC shows are expected to drop off of Prime. A few shows, like Orphan Black, are part of different deals and will remain on Prime.
