Amazon may have just discontinued the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote. The product page now says the bundle is “currently unavailable” and that they “don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.” Fire TV devices have become unavailable in the past, only to return to stock after a short hiatus, so that’s not definitive proof the voice bundle has been discontinued. However, it’s a bit odd that the option for the voice bundle no longer appears on the regular Fire TV Stick’s product page. More so, when viewing the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote product page, the family of products at the top are now Fire tablets instead of the Fire TV line of devices, like it used to show. In a sense, this implies the Fire TV Stick with Voice Remote is no longer a part of the Fire TV family of devices.
Amazon just launched a new promotion in the UK where they’re offering a deep discount on the Fire TV Stick for new Prime members. As clocks points out in the comments, it’s odd that Amazon is running a new promotion on a product we expect to be replaced soon. I’m starting to believe that the existing Fire TV Stick will stick around another year as the lowest priced device in the Fire TV lineup, while a new Fire TV Stick 2 is released to replace the voice remote bundle. It would slot in nicely between the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV box as the middle-ground device for those that want a bit more power than the Fire TV Stick, but don’t need something like the Fire TV box. This would also explain why, out of all the current Fire TV devices, the supply of original Fire TV Sticks has been relatively stable and continues to quickly come back into stock after big sales.
The Fire TV Antenna bundle is also shown as “currently unavailable”. I’m not sure how that might fit in with future hardware announcement speculation.
Fire stick will run hot sp be careful because when it starts running hot it’s always going to run hot call amazon talked to someone they tried troubleshooting it didn’t work they said they would call back I’m still waiting it’s been over a month
I have found the fire stick to run hot and slower than molasses. My Fire TV runs just fine. Will never touch the stick again.
Don’t forget you can use the regular fire stick with the fire app and still have voice. You still get Alexa and voice search with the fire app.
Oct 4 will be the release date for the new fireTV Gen 3. (Said the jar of mayo)
Same day as Googles press launch of its new CheomeCast and phones then.
Will be interesting to see what Amazon launches.
Is this merely a rumor or fact? I’m hoping the latter, but I haven’t seen anything about it on my bible for all things Amazon: AFTV News. (Unless I missed it somehow.)
A new Fire TV Stick has passed through the FCC so that’s pretty much confirmed. No news about the Fire TV box though?
Googles event has been confirmed for October 4th.
Current version of the fire stick with voice remote (refurbished) may be a daily Woot next week.
The next revision of the Fire Stick will be with a voice remote.
About time. The current stick is way to underpowered for just about anything. I hope they replace it soon with a new more powerful one.
Firestick only good for Kodi
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) latency issues including lagging initial discovery time and lagging connection time should be improved in the latest revision. The placement of the heat sink shield foil should help in maintaining thermal insulation and heat dissipation without requiring dynamic under clocking of CPU cores.
