Over the weekend, especially yesterday, I saw a significant uptick in messages from people with Fire TV issues. The problems varied from network connection issues, to Alexa commands not working, to not being able to get past the initial setup process on a new Fire TV. While these all seem like unique issues, they were all related to issues with Amazon’s servers throughout the weekend. Fire TVs are constantly pinging Amazon’s servers to verify that they are connected to the internet. When those servers can’t be reached, or worse, can’t be reached intermittently, it tends to cause various Fire TV features to behave strangely. The issues with Amazon’s servers seem to have mostly been fixed now, but I figured I’d mention it in case people ran into issues over the weekend that they couldn’t explain. Whenever you run into issues with any Amazon devices, it’s always a good idea to check to see if there are active AWS issues or if others have reported AWS outages, before you start diagnosing things on your end.

Ditto ,,, right at the end and after the NFC championship game (which I watched OTA), my Toshiba Fire TV & my Echo shows would not perform Alexa commands ?? Is Super Bowl Sunday going to break the internet or AWS ? Lol. People need to learn to watch OTA TV more, and stop streaming video that is broadcast OTA !!!!
I always forget about possible server outages. I was too busy to troubleshoot but if possible they should have a way to alert people its down (and it did seem to work on and off for a couple of hours.)
Its just so people dont unnecessarily reset their router or try to fix individual devices for no reason.
Same here – spent a few hours trying to figure out WTF. For me, it was mostly getting music groups to play SOMETHING through my Echo Devices and Cube – was very frustrating.

My OTA Tivo DVR worked flawlessly.
I noticed my youtube tv service said home location was correct,but my playback location was wrong so my local news and area broadcast was from a different city? wonder if that has something to do with that?
This seems to be happening more often. Has Amazon been beefing up their server farms? It seems to me, as their Fire Device sales are exponentially increasing their network infrastructure should be matching this growth. Most folks don’t realize the two go hand in hand. I expect the patrons of AFTVnews know this already.

I have purchased a Firestick Max 4k max. This promised Dolby digital sound system compatibility. I have an onkyo sound system. Somehow thw dolby does not work. Have no problem with other apps

Never saw a single problem over the weekend, but last night my internet tv provider reported ISP issues across multiple major carriers and across the entire USA. I used DownDetector to confirm ATT, Verizon, Xfinity and Spectrum were all 4 having massive problems last night.
