Amazon original series ‘Mozart in the Jungle’ canceled after four seasons

Amazon has chosen not to renew their original series Mozart in the Jungle for a fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The half-hour drama-comedy series debuted its first season in late 2014 after receiving a positive response to its pilot from Amazon customers. The series went on to surprise many when it won the Golden Globe award in 2016 for best comedy or musical TV series by beating out shows from Netflix and HBO. Actor Gael García Bernal, who plays the lead character in the series, won the Golden Globe award the same year for best male performance in a TV series.

  1. Masterblaster says:

I have never watched this show. Is it worth the time to view all four seasons?

  2. Chelle says:

It was great for the first two seasons but I gave it up midway through series three.

They jumped the shark and it just got too preposterous to stick with it.

  3. Greg says:

I’m at the beginning of season four now. Enjoyed 1 and 2 a lot. Hung in thru three…May not make it much more. What made the difference? The music! The show was about the musicians and their rlationship to music and performing. Later it became about their relationships to each other, which made it like so many other shows. The relationship between the two main characters was like a separate
show, lacking the focus and tension previously seen.
    Sorry it went that way.
