Amazon has announced that it will begin delivering Whole Foods products through their 2-hours or less Prime Now service. This is the first major integration between the two companies since Amazon acquired the grocery store chain last year. The speedy grocery delivery service will initially be available in Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Virginia Beach. It’ll expand to other cities later this year. Prime members will receive 2-hour delivery for free or can pay $7.99 for 1-hour delivery on orders of $35 or more.

Interesting. So if choose the 1-hour delivery service and Amazon isn’t able to meet that expectation (rush hour traffic, accident on the highway, roadway construction, etc.), would I still have to pay the extra $7.99?
I would expect that a quick chat with Customer Service will get you a refund, but I doubt it’s automatically issued. Note that the 1-hour option is not offered everywhere that the 2-hour option is offered.
I’m a bit confused. Is this nationwide? Are the Wholefood items now on Amazon.com.

This is kind of interesting and could be awesome. Peapod usually needs a full day in advance to deliver.
Unfortunately, they will probably employ the same useless Amazon Logistics drivers and most of my grocery orders will go “unable to deliver” or “left in a secure location”.
