Amazon Music Unlimited subscription prices are increasing for Prime members

Amazon is increasing the cost of Amazon Music Unlimited subscriptions for Prime members. This increase comes about 7 months after prices increased for non-Prime members at the start of the year and after most streaming music services have also increased subscription fees in 2023. The new cost of an individual Music Unlimited subscription for Prime members is increasing from $8.99 to $9.99 for those paying monthly and from $89 to $99 for those paying annually. For those of you that are Prime members and pay for the family subscription, your price will increase from $15.99 to $16.99 if paid monthly and from $159 to $169 if paid annually. New subscribers will start paying the new prices immediately, while existing subscribers will see the increased prices on their first bill after September 18th.

Makes me remember the good ol’ days when people used to think that prices might go down when more of a product was available.

Now, the more customers they get – the more they can charge and blame it on overhead costs.

It’s just nuts. I think it was maybe $119 I or might even had been $99 for family plan when I started. Prime continues to go up too. I thought I was cutting the cord to improve total cost of cable and I seem to spend more.

Amazon Music app for iOS has an overly aggressive root scan for Jailbreak detection, contacted support regarding this issue a few times but they either don’t know or don’t care. They can keep their overpriced service.

I’ve had Spotify, Apple music, Youtube Music and Amazon and Amazon is by far the worst of the bunch

Amazon Music is so Annoying!! It regularly freezes on both my old and new shield TVs and occasionally on my Pixel 6a. I made the mistake and listened to a Podcast once now it constantly asking me about podcast. It doesn’t always work well with AndroidAuto. Out camping it always searches for service before I can switch to downloaded library. I wish my partner would ditch the subscription, I think it is a waste of money.

How they handle podcasts is the absolute worst. I’m actually pretty happy with my Family Music Unlimited account, even if I’m $10 a year less happy with it.
But the way that a podcast that I listened to once is now there, complete with suggestions to continue listening to it, until the end of time is just trashy design.

It also absolutely guarantees that I never try another podcast, in case I don’t like it.
I’m not sure that’s the outcome they’re looking for, but I’m sure they know better than I do what I want.
