Amazon has closed their acquisition of Ring, a smart home hardware company best known for their video doorbell. To celebrate, they’ve lowered the price of the standard Ring Video Doorbell to $99.99. The retail price of the doorbell was previously $179.99, however, Amazon currently lists it as having an old price of $132.99, which is around the price it sold for during the last few months. The new price matches the lowest price it has ever been in the past, which occurred during this past Black Friday. The doorbell being discounted is Ring’s first doorbell. None of Ring’s other product prices, such as their 2nd generation doorbell or Pro doorbell, are being lowered. Ring, much like Amazon’s recent acquisition of Blink, will continue to operate as an independent company, but it’s probably safe to expect to see deeper integration with Amazon’s other products and services in the near future.
Does anyone remember which of these doorbell devices had the free storage for 24 hours of video? This one appears to charge monthly per the q/a on the comments. I’m slowly getting into this type of thing but don’t want another monthly bill.
I just want a decent home security camera/doorbell camera that can use my existing NAS. I have plenty of storage.
this!
