Amazon is reportedly talking with manufacturers about integrating Alexa into Windows PCs, according to a report by CNET. An executive at Lenovo, the world’s largest PC maker, says they’ve held talks with Amazon about the possibility of using Alexa in their computers. No details were provided by the Lenovo executive, so it’s unclear if Alexa’s implementation on PCs would be a simple pre-installed application, or a more integrated addition with dedicated hardware, like microphones or buttons. With Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant already on Windows, and Apple’s Siri coming to Macs this fall, Amazon will need to partner with one or more PC manufacturer soon if they want Alexa to compete in the desktop/laptop PC space.
