XDA forum user Charlie tells us his Fire TV Voice Remote has received a firmware update taking it from version 351 to version 352. Charlie’s Fire TV is one of the few that has received the new 51.1.2.0_user_512073320 firmware update, so it is likely that your Fire TV Voice Remote will not receive this update until your Fire TV updates. It does seem like this remote firmware update is necessary as Charlie reports that, after his Fire TV updated, voice search stopped working until he updated the remote firmware. As always, there is no way to know what changes this firmware update makes. Maybe one day an update will enable the remotes unused accelerometer.
You can check to see if your remote has the update by going to Settings > Controllers > Amazon Fire TV Remotes. If an update is available, you will see a message asking you to press Select to begin installing the update.
Strange, my remote driver is still v.349. I wonder why it never updated to v.351, let alone 352?
My new fire TV needed this update, took an hour to install… But it did fix the voice search!
wow, mine has only just updated to 352 and I’ve had it for a year!
JUst purchased a voice remote to use with my Fire TV Stick. After pairing it automatically updated the firmware. It is now on version 197!
Are there different firmware versions to match the device they control?
My remote software version is stuck at 217. Even though my fire TV is upgraded to latest firmware. (5.2.1.1 – 551203220).
Could it be because previously I had rooted and blocked updates. ? But now I removed root and reverted back to OTA updates. ?
Is there a way I can force software updates on Amazon fire TV remote.?
Mine’s the same. Just noticed it. Stuck on 217. Nothing I can do to force it to update.
Yeah same here. I’m still waiting on the 5.2.4.1 for my Fire TV gen2 as well.
