Amazon has just announced Fire TV devices for Sweden, the Netherlands, and Poland. While customers in those regions have long been able to buy the global Fire TV Stick Basic Edition, this is the first time that dedicated models have come to these three countries. The 3rd-gen Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is available to pre-order in each country, with deliveries starting on November 17th.
In all three countries, the Fire TV Sticks are labeled as “Internation Version” models, which is a first. This seems to be because these models aren’t quite as tailored for the respective country that they are being sold in as Fire TVs in other regions. For example, while the interface is translated to Swedish, Dutch, and Polish, voice interaction and responses from Alexa are limited to English.
Interestingly, the included Alexa Voice Remotes all feature an “Apps” button and an “Internet” button, for the Silk Browser, as the bottom two shortcut buttons. Fire TV’s in India also have an “Apps” button, but they use Amazon Music as the final button. This is the first time the Silk Browser has received such prominent access on the remote. The other two buttons are for Prime Video and Netflix, which is consistent with those buttons in all other regions where the Fire TV is sold.
