The all-new Amazon Fire TV Stick 2 is unquestionablly more powerful than the first generation model it repalces. Nowhere is that more evident than with the new device's game selection. A vast majority of the best games in the Fire TV app store used to only be available to Fire TV box owners, but the improved performance of the new Fire TV Stick 2 has now made a large portion of those games accessible on a much less expensive device. Amazon's site currently indicates there are 182 games that are compatible with the new Fire TV Stick 2, which are not compatible with the first generation Fire TV Stick.
Notably still missing from the Fire TV Stick 2's app library are popular games like Minecraft, Terraria, the Telltale games, and the GTA games. However, top games like Doom & Destiny, Shovel Knight, Leo's Fortune, SHADOWGUN, Disney games, and dozens more are now playable on a device that costs less than some game controllers. I've put together a list of 48 games that caught my eye, which are not compatible with the old Fire TV Stick but are compatible with the new one.

The easiest way to tell if a game is compatible with the Fire TV Stick 2 is to click the developers name on the game’s Amazon product page, then select Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote” from the options in the left column. If the game you want to check stays on the page, then it works on the new device.
I think this new stick will be a “bang for the buck” champ. Seems like an amazing deal for only $40.

One potential downside could be the storage, 8GB worked because it was just for very basic apps but as soon as games get involved it could cause problems quite quickly.
I wonder how well the new stick also handles emulators?
Yeah, it’s best to think of the Stick as a one or two games at a time device. Not something you can load up with a large selection to play all at once.
I never go around to buying Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode II in the past, but everytime I search for the game, it doesn’t show any of the FireTVs as compatible devices.
So Amazon must have pulled this game for all Firetv devices many months ago.
It shows up in my games library on my FTV2.
Are you running os 5+?
Yeah running os 5.0.5 on a rooted ftv2 and os 4 last a rooted ftv1. I thought it shows up only for those who already purchased game in the past. I wonder if this is happening because I’m running older rooted firmware.
Castle of Illusion works on the original Stick too.
The ad states that it’s more powerful, I would like to know HOW??
The specs that I seen are the same as the current firestick. The only difference is the remote.
