The Amazon Fire TV Game Controller is on sale for $29.99 for Prime Day. This is the first time that the official Fire TV gamepad by Amazon has ever been priced this low. The lowest it has ever been before today was $34.99. It’s very rare for this game controller to go on sale, so don’t miss out on this deal if you’re interested because it’s unlikely that we’ll see it again anytime soon. Amazon’s Fire TV game Controller works with all Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Stick models, regardless of what generation you have. The only thing to keep in mind as far as compatibility goes is that it is not compatible with the Fire TV Edition televisions and that the headphone jack on the game controller only works with the 2nd-Gen Fire TV. All other functionality, including the Alexa button, work with all Fire TV models. The Fire TV Game Controller by Amazon is a great device and, in my opinion, equal in quality to the Xbox and PlayStation controllers.
Update
This is actually not a Prime Day deal. It’s just a standard sale so you do not need to be a Prime member to receive the discount. Thanks Tango for the correction!
Just bought one and didn’t require Prime.
With all the Prime Day rush, I just assumed it was a Prime only deal. Thanks for point this out. I’ve added an update to the post.
I forget, but what are the differences between this controller and the original first gen controller?
Functionally, they’re the same, apart from the headphone jack. If you have the 1st-gen, there’s not much reason to upgrade unless you’re gaming every day with it. The 1st-gen controller is perfectly sufficient, but this 2nd-gen is just overall better. It feels better in the hand, the batteries are integrated better so it doesn’t just have a big bulge on the bottom, the joysticks are nicer, and the triggers are smoother/larger. It’s just slightly improved in many small ways that add up to a very nice game controller.
Will it pair with other devices, like the Shield for instance.
