Amazon is opening up the doors for developers to bring their HTML5 apps to the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. The Fire phone and tablet already have HTML5 apps, so bringing that support to the Fire TV family of devices should result in a nice influx of new and interesting apps for the living room experience. Unlike the native apps already available for the Fire TV, web based HTML5 apps tend to be easier to develop and result in more frequent updates since the app is often hosted remotely on the developer’s server. Amazon has released a new app for the Fire TV and Fire TV Stick to help developers easily test their apps on the newly accessible platform. They’ve also expanded the capabilities of their WebView technology to support the Voice remote and Non-Voice remote, in addition to support for analog input form the FIre Game Controller.
