The Amazon Fire TV 3 has just gone on sale for $54.99. This sale isn’t as good as the one day sale from a week ago for $49.99, which is the lowest price the new Fire TV has ever been, but if you missed out on that sale, here’s your chance to save almost as much.
I missed that sale a week ago. On the occasion, I called amazon and asked them to see if it would be possible for me to purchase it, but put the delivery on hold for a while (as nobody would be at home). I didn’t want to miss the promotion. They told me lots of people were asking for that, but that Amazon wasn’t offering that feature yet. So I missed it. Yesterday, I purchased it and today it went on sale again. I called Amazon and at first they told me Amazon doesn’t do price match. I insisted and told the story of the sale missed and then eventually (because my purchase was yesterday) they decided to give me back the US$15.00 difference. I was very glad!
wow, thats some dedication just to be super disappointed…..
It’s an excellent streamer for this price. I use mine to watch videos on Kodi, Plex, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, and all the networks. Everything runs fast and smooth, even my 50 Mb/s 4K movies on Kodi 16.1 (or SPMC, which handles audio a little better imo). I can use the keyboard on my phone with the Amazon Remote app and this is the single most convenient streaming device I’ve ever owned.
The circlejerk against this thing on the internet is from Kodibox users, right? I still don’t get it. I installed Kodi 17.6, it crashed, I uninstalled it and used 16.1 instead. Problem solved. SPMC is better on this one anyway.
I have my SPMC set up with the Aeon Nox skin and some add-ons. It’s quick and snappy. The only thing I’m missing are a few audio formats. I wish it supported DTS 5.1 but Dolby Digital and Atmos are good enough for $50. You can buy three of these for the price of one Shield.
How much longer do we have to wait for the Fire TV c”Cube? I know Amazon doesn’t want to cut into sales for the AFTV3 pseudo box/stick, but the market for the Cube is different. It’s too late for Xmas as Amazon promotes new products well in advance of launch to build anticipation.
I’m wondering if any fans of the site are buying these things. The reviews seems so unenthusiastic, so I’ve just been sticking to my v2 boxes.
Ordered 2 from Target for $96 shipped.
