Amazon has revealed that the Fire TV 2 will be on sale for $74.99 during the Black Friday sales event. We already knew the Fire TV Stick 2 would be $29.99 during the big sale, but it wasn’t clear until now if the Fire TV 2 would also go on sale, since its retail price was just lowered last month. The sale price of $74.99 will be the second lowest the device has ever been. If you recall, the Fire TV 2 was $69.99 during Prime Day earlier this year, which was the lowest it has ever been. We don’t know exactly when the sale price will go into effect, but it will likely either be midnight on Thanksgiving morning, or midnight the morning of Black Friday.

Has anyone made a serial number indentifier for the 2nd gens like you had for the 1st gen boxes. I have received a few that were not rootable now.

If the device arrives with software version 5.2.1.0 or newer already isntalled, then it’s currently not rootable.
No, I haven’t polled the community for Fire TV 2 serial numbers to determine if rootability could be determined by the serial number. It seems rootable versions are still readily available, so if it becomes harder to find one, I’ll consider polling serial numbers.
What about firetv stick 2? Are they all shipping with new nonrootable is?
I have added kodi to fire tv stick 2 recently.
Has there been any talk of a Fire TV 3 anytime soon?
There has been no indication of a Fire TV 3 coming out anytime soon. You can pretty much guarantee one will not be released this year. My guess would be middle of next year at the earliest.
