Amazon has reduced the price of the Fire HD 8 tablet by over 50% to just $79.99. This is the lowest price this tablet has ever been. What’s most interesting is that it appears this is the new retail price of the tablet, as opposed to just being a sale. This is Amazon’s newest tablet, released late last last year in September, and is Amazon’s thinest tablet ever. It features a 1280 x 800 resolution screen and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU. It also has a 720p front facing camera as well as a 5 MP rear camera capable of 1080p video. This tablet comes with 8 GB of internal storage, which is expandable via the built in microSD card slot. Other perks include dual-band 802.11ac wireless and dual Dolby stereo speakers.
Update
Unfortunately, it looks like the price has jumped back up to $149. It’s possible this was a short lived price mistake, considering it didn’t appear as a sale price to begin with, but rather a new retail price.
shows $149 for me
Deal dead already?
Excellent Amazon offer!
But, those who have bought the Fire HD 8″ Tablet with 8GB, say it is more advisable to purchase the 16GB version, with today’s Special offer:
US$99.00 or Five Easy Payments of US$20.00 each!
I am not sure if this information is true, but most complain that the New FireOS-5 System occupies more than 4 GB… So, it only leaves us 4 GB Free, to install all the apps!
I know that now all new Fire Tablets come with MicroSD Card Slot, and you could use a cheap 16-32-64-128GB MicroSD Card, but unfortunately not all APPs can be moved to this MicroSD-Card.
Hi Elias, Matt and Jeff,
I want to confirm that I saw last night the special price of $79.99 and $99.99, but today (in the morning) climbed back to the regular price of $169.99 and $149.99.
Then this afternoon, I saw that the prices of Fire-Tablets-8″ 8GB and 16GB fell again.
So, I hurried and quickly buy One Tablet with 16GB for only $99.99!
As you may have already noted, it appears that Amazon is adjusting the price of this tablet daily, so I think probably in a few days the price will fall again!
So I think Elias, that the price is not a mistake.
Damn….

I thought you all might like to know that today (21.Feb.2016), Amazon is again offering the Fire-Tablet 8″ at a very special price:
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from $169.99 to $119.99
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from $149.99 to $99.99
I bought the 8 GB model for $99 on Amazon today.
Now back up to $149 when I went to pull the trigger on Amazon.
It seems that Amazon is changing the selling price of these Fire 8″ Tablets Everyday!
The curious thing about this situation is that these prices are becoming different, because I bought a Fire 8″ Tablet with 16GB, for only $99.99 just three days ago!
However yesterday the same tablet was offered on sale for $ 119.99:
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from $169.99 to $119.99
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from $149.99 to $99.99
So my suggestion for those who want buy this Fire 8″ Tablet, is to stay by checking daily in the evenings if the price has dropped, because I have always noticed that Amazon has lowered the selling price of these tablets every afternoon and then at night has raised to full price.
I just saw today that again amazon just cut prices!
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from$149.99 to $79.99
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black has decreased from$169.99 to $99.99
Fire HD 8, 8″ HD Display, Wi-Fi, 16 GB – Includes Special Offers, Tangerine has decreased from$169.99 to $99.99
Back down to $79 today so I picked one up. Don’t really know why since I have and iPad but also 2 of the $49 Fires. Maybe I’ll mount one to the wall as a home controller.
