Amazon has put their Alexa family of devices on sale for the same prices they had during Black Friday.
The Echo Dot is $39.99, which is as low as the Dot has ever been. The black version is currently backordered, so if you want that color, get your order in quick or check Prime Now to see if it’s available from there in your area. The full-sized Amazon Echo is $139.99, which is just $10 more than the lowest it has ever been. Again, check Prime Now’s listing for faster delivery. Lastly, the Amazon Tap is $89.99, which matches Amazon’s Black Friday price.
Is the Dot a plug ‘n play? IOW, I have the Harmony Smart remote & Hub. Will the Dot just ‘sync’ to the hub so I have voice control of the hub?
Also, do you know how long the sale will be for?
Sort of? You need a smartphone with the Alexa App, I believe, for the initial Echo/Dot setup. I just bought a Harmony Smart Remote & Hub and love it with my Echo, though it’s an adjustment to get used to saying “Alexa, turn on NBC Sports” instead of something like “Alexa, watch NBC Sports”. The Dot syncs with the Harmony Hub through the Alexa App on your phone.
You don’t need a smartphone to configure an Echo. Just go here: https://alexa.amazon.com/
You can set it up from any browser.
Thanks for clarifying that. For some reason I thought the (smartphone) Alexa App was required for transferring WiFi settings, but that may have been the WeMo App, which I also setup when I first bought my Echo.
