The Amazon Echo Dot has just gone on sale for $34.99. Normally, I’d say that this is a great price because this is the new lowest price that the Echo Dot has been all year, but with Prime Day starting on Monday, you’re probably better off waiting. It might seem like Amazon has started the Echo Dot’s Prime Day sale early with this $34.99 price, like they did with the Echo Show which is already on sale for its great Prime Day price of $129.99, but that’s very likely not the case. This $34.99 price for the Echo Dot is just Amazon matching Google’s sale price for the Google Home Mini that just went live. Amazon is determined to not let Google beat them on price, so they’ve been matching Google’s smart speaker prices anytime the Home or Home Mini go on sale. The Echo Dot was on sale for $29.99 during this past Black Friday, so that is very likely the price we’ll see it drop to for Prime Day as well. If you’re a Prime member and want to buy an Echo Dot, you should wait until next week to buy one. Note that if you buy the Echo Dot now and it drops further for Prime Day, Amazon will not credit you the difference. Howeverm if you’re not a Prime member and don’t want to sign-up for a free 30-day trial to get in on Prime Day’s sale prices, then this $34.99 is probably as low of a price as you’ll get until Black Friday comes back around in November.
