The Echo Buds, Amazon’s wireless earbuds with Alexa integrated, are getting fitness tracking capabilities. Built-in accelerometers can now track steps to calculate the distance, pace, and calories burned during runs and walks. Workouts can be tracked by saying “Alexa, start my run” and progress can be checked by saying “Alexa, how far have I run?” Fitness data and additional information can be viewed in the Alexa app. Amazon Echo Buds are currently on sale for $79.99 for Black Friday, which is $50 off of their regular price of $129.99. This matches the lowest price that they have ever been. Echo buds offer Bose active noise reduction and hands-free Alexa. They last for up to 5 hours of music playback on their own and the battery built into the included carrying case can extend that to 20 hours. Popping them into the case for 15 minutes will charge them for 2 hours of use.
I like them. I’ve been using them since… “Pre-Black Friday” (?) which is when they were also on sale for the current sale price. I don’t typically like ear buds, but these actually fit and don’t feel like they’ll ever fall out or become loose on me… the built in Alexa is just a bonus.
I’m confused. Is this an upgrade (firmware?)for all Echo Buds or only ones that are currently being purchased?
Software update for all Echo Buds
