If you aren’t familiar with Amazon Coins, they are Amazon’s digital currency used to purchase apps, games, and in-app purchases from Amazon’s appstore. While most digital currency is a nuisance, Amazon coins have the unique advantage of always being less expensive than just using real money to make the same purchases. Case in point, you can currently buy Amazon Coins for up to 20% off. Amazon Coins come in various bundles from 500 to 10,000. The sweet spot is the 5,000 coin pack for $40 which gets you the full 20% off without having to buy too many coins at once. This Amazon Coin sale price is expected to last through November 1st. How do you mean “While most digital currency is a nuisance”?
A lot of digital currency, like from Nintendo or Xbox, is sold 1-to-1, meaning there really is no benefit to using the digital currency over just paying with real money. You end up just trading real money for an equal amount of digital money that can only be used in one place. With Amazon coins, at least there is an economical benefit to using them instead of real money directly since you can buy them for less than they’re worth.
It’s also nice in that when they have these offers, they provide you with free coins when you use coins for in-app purchases. I’m unsure what other apps they may do this for, but I play The Simpsons Tapped Out, where coins can be used to purchase donuts (the game’s premium currency), and if you use coins to buy donuts during these sales they reward you with more coins. It’s not an insignificant amount they provide you for free either, I dropped 10,000 coins in Tapped Out and they immediately credited me 2,000 more. I then used those 2,000 coins and they gave me 500 more. This went on and on.
So if you use coins to purchase in-app content, do so while this sale is going on because they will give you free coins for using coins. It’s awesome.
